White House Taskforce on Racism and Race Relations

I’ve had the idea for over a decade. I’m only writing it now because I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened in some form. I’d like to document my thoughts.

The United States was founded on terrorism and exploitation. That has always been our story as a country. There is no way to move beyond that history, and present, other than to identify and address it. The work must be done across the country in regional hubs and small towns as well as nationally and independently as states. We will see what happens but I see this as being a reality. Law Enforcement and Public Health are finally collaborating nationally to address our community’s ills together and the federal grants that are available are getting closer to funding this type of work. There is no other choice if we wish for our communities to be their best. Does this have to be led by the White House? Of Course not. But that’s what I envisioned years ago, so I wanted to remain true to my instinct.

KEY POINTS

  • Nationally-Led and funded outreach initiative on acknowledgement and next steps.

  • Region Hubs that report to the national office in line with an open-minded by national vision.

  • Small-town staff leading the effort to engage community while reporting to regional office.

  • Quarterly reports on progress across the country for accountability.

You may think this is not a possibility. I don’t see how it can’t be.
